Accomodation

Are single rooms available?

All suites are single with private en-suites.

What provisions are there for couples?

We have a few suites designed for couples. Please talk to our Care Manager about availability.

Are bathrooms private or shared?

All bedrooms have private en-suite bathrooms.

What arrangements are there for privacy?

All suites are secure and staff adhere to a strict privacy and dignity policy in their dealings with residents. All visitors sign in and out and the facility is locked after hours (visitors then ring the doorbell for access).

What furnishings are provided and can residents bring ?

Residents can bring whatever items of furniture they like, such as a bed, desk or favourite chair. In fact, we encourage residents to bring as many household and precious personal items as practical, as these help create a familiar environment. Regardless of whether a resident brings a number of items or no furniture of their own, we supply all furnishings needed.

Activities

How are social and cultural activities determined?

When a resident enters Greenslopes SRS, we ask for a brief on social, family and life history. From this, we compile a Lifestyle Care Plan, designed to maintain community links, preserve the resident’s interests and keep them active. Each lifestyle program is updated regularly as part of the resident’s overall wellbeing plan.

Does Greenslopes SRS provide for residents’ special occasions?

All birthdays are acknowledged and celebrated and catering can be arranged to accommodate family and friends. Anniversaries and other occasions of significance can also be catered for with appropriate notice. Our onsite manager is happy to discuss any arrangements.

Amenity

What provision is there for storage of personal items?

Each suite has a built-in cupboard for clothes and storage. Additional storage for bulky items is also available in our secure storage area (please speak to our Care Manager in relation to additional storage).

Can residents have a private telephone?

Yes, all suites have telephone points (connection, maintenance and payment is the responsibility of the resident).

Is there easy access to well-maintained outdoor areas?

The paved courtyard areas, including outdoor seating, are accessible from the lounge and dining rooms. Other outdoor areas (with gardening boxes) are also provided, while the grounds are maintained by contract gardeners.

What are the meal arrangements?

Breakfast, morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea, dinner and supper are provided. All meals are prepared on site with menu choices and alternatives available. A dietician reviews the menu as part of each resident’s overall food and nutrition plan.

Each resident is allocated a seat in the dining room to help them settle in, and this is changed from time to time (if suitable). Visitors are welcome to join residents for a meal. This can be on a special table and usually there is no charge (a day’s notice is required). Our kitchen is audited annually and has continually achieved a five-star rating. Family

Is an (ACAS) assessment required?

No, an ACAS assessment is not mandatory. Talk to our Care Manager about how we can help in this area.

Can family and friends be involved in resident care?

Families and friends are welcome to attend all activities and outings and even run a group activity or slide night displaying their special interest or hobby. There is no limit to how families and friends can be involved.

Do residents have any input into the running of Greenslopes SRS?

Residents have meaningful input into all aspects of life at Greenslopes SRS. They are encouraged to participate in regular residents’ meetings to provide feedback to management about any issues or concerns. We value the opinions of our residents and their families, insist on being immediately informed of any issues, and commit to addressing all concerns promptly.

Fees and costs

Who pays for everyday items?

All meals at Greenslopes SRS are included in the daily care fee. Linen is supplied and laundered and residents’ clothes can be washed too. Residents supply personal items such as clothing, toiletries, batteries, stationery items, and so on.

How do I gain an understanding of the cost of living at Greenslopes SRS?

As a Supported Residential Services establishment, our fees are well below those of most mainstream facilities. Having said that, fees vary depending on the degree of care required and any extra services. Please call our manager, who will be more than happy to explain.

Lifestyle

What's a typical daily routine?

After breakfast there’s an activity such as exercises, an entertainer or a bus outing. Morning tea is included in the schedule. Lunch is followed by quiet time, afternoon tea and another group activity before dinner. Residents enjoy reading in the lounge or watching TV before supper and bedtime.

Can residents get out and about when they want?

Residents are free to come and go from Greenslopes SRS as they choose.

Services

Can Greenslopes SRS meet medical and special needs?

Many residents’ doctors visit our home and we also have a prompt locum service, with several visiting doctors. Routine appointments for physiotherapy, podiatry, optometry, and other services are conducted in house. Most residents take advantage of these appointments, although external providers can be maintained.
